Context

The Goal

What if a chat bot could help you find the perfect home? Able to help you narrow down on criteria and then recommend the home for your needs.

Finding a new home is often very difficult. Trying to find the criteria in the budget whilst looking at if its even in the area you hope to find it in.

I wanted to make finding a home easier and I thought what would be more perfect than being able to share pinterest images and your dream home to get recommendations based on it. I decided to design Virgo Property after hoping to make the finding your dream home easier.

Functions
  • Find a dream home through chat bot
  • Able to search and filter properties
  • Be able to favourite homes
  • Be able to compare homes to each other

User Persona

Diagram

Before diving into the designs I came up with a business flow diagram that would work in the intended way.

Lofi- Hifi

It went from being messy not very aligned to the price being bigger to gain more attention. I also moved the favourite off the images so that it wasn’t as distracting.

A lot of changes went into the home inspection view. The box info stayed however I also added in the paragraphs and other information with more icons. I added the fixed request tour to always be there to make it easier to be contacted.

I actually decided to incoroporate the chat feature during my mid fidelity designs. I decided how much easier it would be if the chat bot could contain information on the homes and be able to help find a home for the user. I added in the filter section so that the user could also be able to filter out homes without relying on the chatbot only.

The comparison feature was to only recommend comparable homes in the beginning. However that could just be within the inspection page. It was a lot better to have the comparison page. Even though this is a feature that the chat bot could also do I thought it would be good to have its own designated section on the application.

The Final Designs

Talking to the chat bot to find a new home

Here the user can talk to the chat bot, uploading images and descriptions. Thus allowing the ai to find homes similar to it.

Search Results and Filter

I thought it was best for the user to be able to also change the filter to get other search results without the chat bot. This allows a more comprehensive feeling and without only relying on the chat.

Map and List View Toggle

Most users I tested wanted to be able to toggle between list and map view easily. Hence there is a large button that will not disappear and is seamless.

Property Page

On the property page there is many things such as being able to see map view on a bigger screen for ease. A complaint many people have on mobile when the map view is a small aspect on the page to zoom.

I wanted the key details to show the main features easily hence its in boxes. The rest of the useful information such as similar homes, school and walkability was important. They are in different sections to break up so much information.

Time Booking

It was important to have the time booking as fixed and easy for the user. As well as being clean and simple without showing too many dates and time in one go except what was available.

Favourites

This is where favourites can be viewed easily.

Comparisons

I decided it would be the most simple if the users only compared the favourites. For the reason that most people would only want to compare their utmost favourites. It would also be easier to build. It was also to cut out the overwhelm and writing down the address wrong if it was a search result.

Style Sheet

Takeaways

I have enjoyed making the Virgo Property app for buying a new home. I think doing the different iterations of low fidelity to high fidelity allows a lot of new ideas to be included. Sometimes a little more time is needed to come up with new ways to do something.

In this phase there was limited time to have user testing before moving on to final designs. Which made it a little bit more tougher. However working with my mentor allowed me to work a lot faster on the project with fast feedback.

For the future I would like to expand to other devices like I have done partially below. I would also like to grow the chatbot interface to be able to be able to do comparisons and act more like a real estate agent making the appointments and sending alerts for when to do it. So that it can really become even more comprehensive.
